Outside Air Temp

Ok I have a 523i SE AUTO, 1999, 66,000 miles. The outside air temp sensor tells me it's -40 degrees Celsius - which it obviously isn't! I think that this is also causing the Air Con/Climate Control to fail. Please could someone confirm if that is indeed the case and any ideas on how much it may cost to repair.
Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like the wiring to the sender may be compromised.
Cost is difficult to say, may be just the wiring, or, it may be the sender too.
My guess is maybe $125.00
