Cup holder fixed, dash piece missing

BMW 525

BMW 525i, 2002, 42,500 miles, 6 cyl. BMW Center replaced broken cup holder. Next day I noticed Air Supply display, 1 inch above cup holder, was missing. BMW Center says not their fault, fix to cost over $100. Can replacement of crummy cup holder dislodge other nearby dashboard peices?

My initial response is SUE THEM.
There is of course no way I can see the issue from here.
When you picked up the car did you notice this as an issue and did you do anything about it at the time?
If not, why?
