Engine Cooling problem
1992 BMW 525 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 92 525i. Overheating; flushed and refilled w/ bmw antifreeze/coolant and water. Replaced thermostat. Still overheating. What have I overlooked?

The cooling system might have some trapped air in the system, did you bleed the air from the cooling system? When is the car overheating, is it all the time or at an idle or with the A/C on or what exactly? Is the fan clutch engaging? To bleed the air from the system, open the black plastic screw on the top of the expansion tank (it's next to the radiator cap) and fill until no more bubbles are pushed from the system. Running the car with the cap off you will be able to see if there is flow through the system, if there is not then you might need to pull the water pump and inspect the impeller as they sometimes have a tendency to separate from the shaft. Repost if more assisstance is needed, I will be here with my cat.
