Vibration noise center console

BMW 325 mileage: 150,000. There is a vibrating noise coming from inside the center console. As I accelerate the noise gets faster. I've found that if I raise the emergency brake lever one click the noise stops. No vibration is felt in the lever its selt though. What could the noise be? Its driving me nuts.

Check the undeneath of the car and follow the e brake cable back to the wheels. Start by where it comes through the floor by the console
