My bmw 2001 325 ci blew a radiator belt a few days ago. The red light battery warning has illuminated. I see shreds of a belt under the hood. The power steering is gone as a result. I am looking for guidance please--Is this a complicated, costly fix? Is there anything that I need to check for. Ie damage, or is this a typical belt replacement?

I appreciate any help

It is possible for secondary damage to have resulted from this little mishap. Have the car towed to your mechanic, do not attempt to drive the car under any circumstance until the repairs have been completed. I have seen damage done to radiators, tensioner and deflection pulleys, fans, hoses, water pumps, thermostats, and so on. I wish I could say it was just a belt, it seldom is just a belt. Let us know what you find out and keep in touch. Ã â Â

Thank you very much for the information. As you can tell, I am not the most knowledgeable and I just don't want to be taken advantage of when I bring the car in for service.
