My 1995 bmw 325i drives beautiful and is very quick for an old car but whenever I get to my destination and put the car in park or in neutral the rpm's tend to rev up and down and maybe sometimes it will stabalize and sometimes itll just cut off. I checked to see if maybe it was a spark plug that was bad but I opened the first plug and found it drenched in oil. What should I do? What will fix the problem?

The valve cover gasket is allowing oil to pass, it will require replacement. The idle issue could be the idle control valve sticking open, cleaning it and the throttle plate should be considered.

Ok I replaced the valve cover gasket and the spark plugs. Now the idle control valve where do I find it in my car and how do I clean it or replace it? Where is the throttle plate? Can you show me a diagram of it?

Do I just switch out the control valve?Or do I have to regulate it in some way?
Could the idle control valve make me waste more fuel?

The "gate" inside the valve should swing freely from open to closed. If not, clean it with penetrating oil or obtain a replacement if cleaning is impossible. You do not regulate it in any way. As to wasting fuel, no. But it is irritating, dont you agree?
