I have the above car and I am trying to change the heater blower motor, I have removed the firewall and the repair manual states to unclip the blower housing retaining clips BUT it has no (2) clips, it has a single metal strap with no clip and it wraps around the motor. I can not get around the motor to see if there is a clip behind the motor due to a 1cm wide gap, am I missing something here. The winter is coming and I would like some heat in the car. Thanks so much for your help.

We did this just yesterday on an 87 as well. We undid the 4 clips on the plastic cover over the motor. 2 of the clips are visible and the other 2 are not visible. They are directly behind on the back of the plastic cover. It may not be necessary to remove this cover, but we did because it gave us more room to work on the motor. The single strap you describe was exactly what we had in our unit, and it was very difficult to unsnap. We used some needle nose pliers and a screwdriver to pry it loose. Once the strap is removed the motor comes out quite easily and has two wires that must be disconnected.

Good Luck
