Blinkers quit blinking when brakes are applied.
cruise control quits when you put blinker on.
downshifts when you put blinker on.

These are all typical of a bad ground for the rear lights. Turn on just the right turn signal, then while it's flashing remove the bulbs from the left side. If the right one goes out and stays off it has a bad ground wire, typically where it bolts to the body.
