My van only has two temperatures, hot or cold. To get it to switch from one temp to the other you usually have to move the temperature control knob back and forth a few times. I believe that the blend door actuator has some stripped gears in it. My real question is where is the actuator hiding under the dash? I've look around on Google but can't find a straight answer whether it on the passenger side or drivers' side of the vehicle. I did a quick look and didn't see it by the blower motor on the passenger side. Please help.

There can be two actuators if it has the dual zone system. However, it and the single zone both use the same actuators. The left actuator for the single zone system is at the bottom of the HVAC case just above the footwell. You remove the bolster under the drivers dash and the actuator is the lowest one on the case. Has 2 screws that hold it to the case. There is a small shaft that only goes in one way. Be sure it is place.

Then once replaced you need to reset the HVAC actuators.
To do that without a scan tool
Turn the ignition off
Now set the MODE knob to PANEL, then press and hold the AC button for 5 seconds.
Now turn the MODE fully counterclockwise
Next turn the MODE fully clockwise
Now turn the MODE fully counterclockwise
Release the AC button.
Now wait for at least 45 seconds.
Start the truck and verify operation.
You might want to try the reset first; it might reset the system so the current actuator.

I tried the calibration of the actuator with no success. I started to search for the actuator until I discovered that pretty much the lower portion of the dashboard needs to be removed. This includes both passenger and driver kick plates, the lower storage unit in the dash. Then there is a black piece of plastic that surrounds the heater box which contains I'm guessing 6 or so screws. I stopped when I discovered all the pieces that needed to be removed.

Shouldn't take that much. These are the two panels that have to come off to get to the actuators.

I'm going to be replacing the blend door actuator. I have directions for the most part. The only questions are if the key has to be on the run/on position? Also is the mode knob the selector for heat, AC, ect or is it the temperature switch that gets turned? It makes sense that it would be so the system has power. I know that you have have to put the mode on panel then hold the AC button for 5 seconds then turn the knob counterclockwise then clockwise and then back counterclockwise. After that you release the AC button. Lastly wait 45 seconds then start the vehicle to verify operation.

Yes, the key needs to be on. For the mode actuator reset you will need to turn the DEFORST/VENT/FLOOR knob. Yes, wait 45 seconds before starting the van back up. If that does not work you might want to try a hard system reboot, this guide can show you how:
