Battery not being charged

There is no wire bolted to back of alternator. Only two plug in clips. I have checked all fuses, all were good. I am guessing with only 11.6 volts instead of 14. 3 that the new alternator is defective.

There are two different types of alternators for this vehicle. One for External voltage regulator and other for internal voltage regulator one in picture is picture is one type if you do not have a external voltage regulator then it may be the problem not defective just wrong one. There should be two harness connections for type of alternator shown.
