Oil pressure sensor keeps going bad?

I will replace and 2 to 3 months later it will go bad. I can deal with a bad OPS as I check my oil every fill up on gas. My question is, sometimes my oil pressure gauge drops to zero triggering the low oil pressure warning on the information center, does my make/model have an auto shut off when this happens?

Good evening,

No, there is no protection for low oil pressure. You just have the warning.

When you changed the sensor, did you replace the pigtail on the connector?

I would also check the actual pressure with a manual gauge to be sure there is not an actual oil pressure issue.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Pigtail probably not replaced as I just had a re-manufactured 5.3 installed less than 10,000 miles ago. I have no visible leaks and sufficient oil level. It never makes any kind of noises indicating a lack of oil and it never starts to over heat. The auto shut off was my only big worry until I can correct the OPS pigtail.
