Axle bearing I think

I was in an accident hit from the back could that have caused something to happen to the axle because now it is leaking oil?

You may have to send in a picture of the affected area it may be a split case, pinion seal, axle seal, so a picture will be a big help.

I can't get a photo of it but was I told it was my axle and it was leaking major oil.

If it is the axle seal, the axle will have to be removed to replace the bearing and seal, if the car was hit here, it may be bent as well and that will have to be investigated as well, if it is bent or the housing is damaged it will fail again sooner rather than later.
