Engine revving high

Hi, I have the vehicle listed above with a 1.6 cdti ecoflex s/s. For past 2 days noticed that when I start the car rev at 800 RPMs and then in a few seconds goes up to 1,000 RPMs and stays at 1,000 RPMs all the time. Did take the car on motorway for 20 minutes in third gear and it started revving at 800 RPMs but next morning same thing again. If anyone can help me with that? Thanks.

This vehicle isn't offered in the US, but I will do my best to help.

Have you checked for any engine leaks such as at the air box or air inlet tube? Has fuel pressure been checked?
