1995 Vauxhall Astra Front Wheel Drive Manual 45000 miles
I HAVE A ASTRA 1.6 16V 1995 WHEN STARTED IT KEEPS REVVING UP TO RED LINE SO I HAVE TO TURN OFF IGNITON TO AVOID BLOWING UP ENGINE, CAN YOU PLEASE HELP.

Check the throttle cable. It must be jammed up !

The throttle cable is working fine, could the prolem be the ECU or one of the sensors?

The throttle cable controls fuel supply. If this is definatly good. Then you need to check the carburettor/throttle body !

Also the camshaft and crankshaft sensors tell the ECU how much fuel to supply to the injectors ! It could be any of these are supplying a bad signal or the actual ECU is bad ! Have the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer !
