2000 Daewoo Lanos S, 195,000kms

New to forum, found similar questions under clutch problems, but none quite with same symptoms.

Prior to incident on Monday, clutch was working normal, no slipping, pressure fine, etc. Car shifted normally.

Monday pulled away from gas station and noticed car was very hard to shift into 1st and 2nd. Got to stop lights and could barely shift it, so pulled over into a parking lot. Couldn't even tell what gear it was in so turned car off. With the engine off, the gear shift shifts fine. Tried to start car. And no start. There is power to everything (lights, radio, fan, all dash lights, etc.) But the car doesn't click, turn over, anything. No sound whatesoever (other than dash lights).
Got family to come pick me up, they pushed the car and we caught it in gear in 2nd and away it went, but as soon as it's going, you can't shift the car, it's like the shifter siezes up into some version of neutral (if you try and shift the gears).

Turned car off again. And shifter shifts (but car won't start.). Pushed car again, caught in 2nd and left in 2nd. You can engage the clutch and stop the car, and ride the clutch to pull away in 2nd. Did that all the way to the garage, where's it's been sitting since Mon and no one has looked at it yet.

Another poster had a similar problem, except his car would start.

Any ideas oh mechanically inclined ones? LOL :)

The trans might have locked into gear or broke internally. If the clutch works like its supposed to(pedal feel) then the trans is most likely the problem

Thanks for your reply Jack.

The car would start if you put it in 1st, 2nd gear etc. And pushed it so would that indicate that the transmission was alright?

I managed to drive the car about 15kms to the garage in 2nd gear and was able to ride the clutch enough to stop at the one or two spots I had to. Granted, the car was shuddering like the clutch wasn't fully depressed, but it did not stall.

General consensus from my mechanic and the transmission shop next door was that it was[i:53c18b9929] likely[/i:53c18b9929] a bent clutch plate/fork(?). Of course to verify that I was looking at dropping the tranny (over $300). I had been trying to sell the car and even though it was in great condition I hadn't paid much for it, so I made the decision that it wasn't worth putting $600-$800 into fixing it, and then still not being able to sell it and being into it for another $800. Sold it, not running, from my mechanics yard.
