Can you provide more information. Engine code: Z or W?
I understand the symptoms of the fuel pump. What else have you done as far as maintenance goes.
When was the last time the cap and rotor were changed. Spark plugs? For reliability use the AC Delco plugs, I find they work the best in my van. The plug wires, are they the original ones? They should be inspected every time you do a tune up.

In summary, the van will start but will not keep running. Is this correct?
Here are some things you need to inspect:
1) All electrical connections at the distributor, alternator and coil. Make sure they are clean and tight. Spark plug wires are on cap in correct fire order and the boot end is on properly on the spark plug.
2) Vacuum leaks. Take your air cleaner off. Make sure all of the TBI mount bolts are tight. Look for signs of a blowout or leak on the gasket itself. Check to make sure all of the vac lines to the tbi are in good shape. You must take each one off and inspect 100%. If in doubt, cover one end and blow through the other.
I can go on for an hour but we need you to provide as much info as possible. How/ when the problem began. What you have done to repair.
Let us know so we can more accurately help you instead of sending you out to buy all sorts of new parts that might not be necessay.
Good luck,
