Hi, I have a '99 ZX2 with 144,000 miles and it does not want to run. The problem all started with my serpantine belt. It blew out on the highway, and I successfuly repaired it but a week later I went to start the car and I hear a "pop" and the car died. Since then when I go to start the car it idles way up, to about 4krpm, then it revs down and dies. I have replaced the MAF, but the car still does not run, although I have gotten it to idle, it idles very rough. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Patrick

Serp belts don't break too often. Can you post a pic of what is looks like, in particular the part of the belt that sanpped. Sounds like something seized up temporaily. Water pump maybe, and it may have jumped timing.

Was the pop like a misfire? Sounds like it is taking on way too much vacuum and stallng the motor. Look for a vacuum leak
