1997 XJ6 VDP Rear Disc brake job

I would like to be able to service the car myself, butI have never changed disc brake pads before. I've help my dad do it on his light truck, and looked fairly straight foreward. I've looked at the on-line how-to-change rear dic pads / rotors on this web site, and it looked fairly easy as well. Do I need some kind of compression tool thing, I've seen mentioned a few times with new autos?
Are there any special tools other that a socket wrench set & screwdriver to remove and install new pads?

Any help would be kindly appreciated!

There are all kinds of tools available for compressing the calipers but, a regular "C" clamp works as good as anything. The proceedure is pretty much the same as on your dad's truck. If you are serious about servicing the vehicle yourself, I would highly recommend you buy a service and repair manual for your model/year car. A good one will tell you step by step how to do most everything on your vehicle. You will find, over time, it's one of the best investments you've ever made. They are available at this site or any good parts store.
