Hi there. Ive got a m reg rover 214 cabriolet and the cam oil seals were blowing out due to crank pressure. Since ive sealed them in with a sealant/adhesive theyve stayed in but the front oil seal is leaking where the cam goes through oil seal because of the build up of pressure. Is this caused by the head gasket? Or maybe a blocked breather somewhere? Any ideas? Thanks in advance :@)

Hi there,

The crankcase is vented via the PCV. If this is blocked you will have problems, but with the mileage on your car, it might be a case of worn rings causing the excessive pressure build up. Check the valve first and if ok, you can do a cylinder air pressure test (not a compression test) to determine ring blow by.

Hi there. Thanks for the reply. Ive fitted a new head gasket so theres one less thing it can be. Ive bonded the cam oil seals in and the front one has blown out again. Im think of fitting a oil catcher/breather tank. If I did where would I plumb it in to the engine?
