There are many possibilities fot this to occur.
1. Carburettor. It could have a fault in the power or accelerating pump or jets. Could be due to low float level.

2. Ignition timing. If equipped with contact breaker, the adjustment could be out of specs.

3. Insufficient air going in. Check if the air filter is clogged.

4. Spark plugs and/or wires. Misfiring would cause the engine to hesitate or stall when giving it gas.
