My vehicle is old, but I like it so I decided to do some major work with the exhaust manifold and some other things. (Bill was over $4,000.00)
I had them check over the whole Jeep before they did the repair to make sure there was nothing more wrong with it. (There was no point spending much more that $4,000.00 since the vehicle was not even worth that amount. They assured me they had checked all the systems and could find nothing else wrong.

When I took it in for the repairs, the air conditioning worked great. Very cold and strong blowing. (I had previously replaced the blower)

When I picked it up, after the repairs had been done, the air conditioning was still blowing but warm air, not cold. So, took it back and they said they were really embarrassed that they had not discovered that the compressor and evaporator needed replacing as well as another part (in addition to the previous work)

They then quoted me an additional $1,600.00 for this second repair and guaranteed me that they would clean and flush the system and the manager said he would personally take the Jeep out after the additional work and make sure I had cold air. Needless to say, when I picked it up today, (after they assured me I had cold air, I found that I had cooler air but not cold air.

It was very hot outside so I took the jeep home and took it out this evening after dark to see if I could get it to blow cold like it before. It was slightly colder than during the day but not to the same degree it had been before I took it in for the repair.

Do you have any idea what could be going on with it. I am going to take it back to them in the morning to the repair shop and want to know what to say to them.

Without exact information on what was done and parts.

It would be hard to say whether you were taken advantage of or not.

Just going by what you said, sounds like maybe you were.

The air conditioner issue, I might understand if either the compressor or the evaporator was found to be lacking, But not both at the same time, especially if there was no problem at all when you dropped it off.

The sad part is, it looks like you did not get multiple estimates for your issues, they sorta "have you" now, trying to straighten out the problems

I recommend not spending any more money with them, bail out now! Maybe cut your losses and have another shop or two look at the issues you are stuck with.

As it seems the Shop or Stealership are not able to fix it and you seem sort of like "Really Unhappy"

Get multiple estimates!

This link will give you an "experienced automotive opinion" on decent shops. Might even get a "review" on the one you are at now!

Yeah it's boring! The part to pay attention to is around the halfway mark in my answer in the link
