We need to see which code it is, but can I ask if you had to undo the steering at any point and if you did was the steering wheel spun? If so, you probably have a spiral wire that is bad. Let's run the codes and see what's up.

This guide can help you:

We've tried a code reader, but nothing has come up. No, as far as we know the steering wheel wasn't removed, but we did have to push the car into a safe place when it cut out and the steering wheel was very stiff as no power steering.

Okay, that won't cause it. I would turn the key on and see if you are getting power to the air bad control module (black wire) this guide can help you and I have included the airbag wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and where the components are.

1 - Driver's side airbag unit
2 - Passenger's side airbag unit
3 - Data Link Connector (DLC)
4 - Airbag Control Module (J234)
5 - Horn Relay
6 - Junction box (terminal 15/TV4)
7 - Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75)
8 - Central Ground (GND) terminal

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
