It does not come on when I turn the dial.
It was a very hot day; I drove for 30-minutes with the A/C blower fan on highest setting. The A/C and blower fan was working fine. I parked and turned the ignition key off while the A/C blower fan was still on highest setting.
When I returned to the car 20-minutes later, the A/C blower fan did not come on when I turned the dial. It is not working 3-days later.
I replaced the HVAC blower relay and replaced the HVAC fuse in the passenger side fuse box. I tested the HVAC Blower Motor fuse in the under-hood fuse box with a fuse tester. The tester green light comes on solidly.
I saw videos via Google that show how to test the Coolant Temperature Sensor and the Electrical Connector, but I don't have the necessary tools and it looks complicated.
Are there any other things I can check?

Hi,

The coolant temperature sensor has nothing to do with this issue. That was likely related to the engine cooling fan motors.

You indicated checking the relays and the fuses. Did you confirm that the fuses are both good and they have power to and from them? Here is a link explaining how it's done if you haven't:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

First, if you haven't, check the HVAC blower fuse under the hood. Confirm it is good and there is power to and from it. If you look at pic 3 below, I highlighted the fuse to check.

Now, if that fuses is good, either the blower motor is bad, or the blower motor resistor has failed. So, I need you to go to the blower motor under the dash on the passenger side. At the motor, there will be a plug with two wires. One of the wires is orange. Check to see if that wire has 12v.

If it does, use a jumper wire at the purple wire and run it to any grounding location. The fan should turn on at high speed. If that doesn't happen, the motor is bad.

Pics 1 and 2 are the wiring schematic for the blower motor. I'm attaching it for your reference.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks for the quick reply, Joe.

I followed the fuse testing video instructions. The HVAC Blower fuse is okay.

After watching a video on how to change the blower motor resistor and studying your much appreciated instructions on checking the orange and purple blower motor wiring, I'm resigned to the fact that my tool kit is not up to these tasks. I do not have the necessary metrics sockets and wrenches, which I could buy. More importantly, my arthritic 78-year-old body is not up to the tasks.

I was hoping it was a simple fix but at this stage, I will have to get my local repair guy involved.

Thanks very much for your advice. I am very impressed with 2CarPros!

Hi,

You are very welcome, and I totally understand. Laying on one's back under a dash isn't fun for anyone. LOL Thank you for the compliment as well. It's nice to meet and help good people like you.

Please remember to come back anytime in the future if you have questions or need help. You are always welcome here.

Also, if you have a chance, let me know what they find. I'm interested in knowing.

Take care,

Joe
