I recently found out my air conditioner was not working because there was some kind of animal stuck in the AC belt so it was off. Well we put the belt back on and the air was cooler, but not cold. So I was told add Freon so we did. But the gauge said it was still low, so I went to buy another can of Freon. The air was cool as we were trying to put the can in but out of no ware the air got hot the gauge dropped to red and the Freon would not go in! I also notice the picture of a car next to AC button the light came on, and I turned it off it went back on, on its own!

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

If the gauge on the Freon when to red, that is a concern and potentially dangerous. It could be the result of a bad compressor or an over charged system. Take a look at this link.

Now, if you noticed they have a gauge on both the high and low side of the system. What you need to do is get a manifold set of gauges so we know what exactly is going on. Once you do that, please let me know what readings you get and the ambient temperatures when it is checked. Often times, a parts store will lend you the gauges.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,
Joe
