Electrical problem
2005 Acura TSX 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I used my brother's laptop charger and I think it may have blown the whole socket. Checked all fuses, none blown. Mechanic checked fuses and put tester in the socket and he says power is flowing to the socket...The other charger in the arm rest works fine. However I've put 2 different cell phone chargers and radar detector in socket and no luck.

Maybe mechanic was mistaken? Not enought voltage?Could it be a blown wire?

Hi krafty1212,

Behind the socket there is a fusible link type of wire and when this link overheats, it tends to break.

If power is available at socket teminals but not getting to the central contact of the outlet, you would need to replace the socket assy.
