My acura integra 1990 model rs has a nice idle sound when in park or neutral but when I put it in drive and step on the brake fully the idle becomes very loud. When I lift my foot off the brake everything is back to normal. Should I be worried?

Hi certz,

You have a vacum leak from the brake master cylinder seal where it joins the booster. Your braking efficiency should be slightly reduced compared to before it happened.

You should get it resolved asap as the condition is going to deteriorate when the leak becomes worse.

It is a simple job, remove the master cylinder nuts holding it to the booster and slowly pull the master cylinder out. DO NOT damage the brake pipes by pulling hard. It is not necessary to remove the pipes.

Between the master cylinder and booster you would fimd a rubber seal, replace it and problem should be solved, unless the booster is bad, then you would need to replace the booster assy.
