1997 Acura CL Gear shift stuck in Park

I started the car this morning and it would not shift out of park. I pumped the brake a few times while trying to get out of park but it was stuck in park. This happened about 6 months ago but after 5 or so attempts it came out of park and it hasn't happened since. Any suggestions?

Hi Huskers1,

The next time it happens, check if the brake light are working when pedal is depressed. Listen for a clicking noise from gear shift area when brake is depressed.

If brake lights are working but no clicking noise is heard, you need to check the interlock solenoid and wiring circuit.
