Got into a small accident. I did hit a rail head on but no major damage. Not even to the body. Just some scratches. But everything looks and works fine engine just will not turn over. As I turn the key it makes the start up sound then just stops and there a click. Not rapid. Lights and music works. Car just will not turn over. Help please. Cannot afford a shop.

Hi Remy,

Have the battery tested and check the battery terminals to see if they are clean and secure. Try a jump start. Lights working does not mean that there is nothing wrong with the battery because lighting systems do not work on high current draw whereas the starter does.

If you have a volt meter, check the battery voltage. Get someone to crank the engine and note the voltage drop. If it drops below 11 volts when the ignition is being cranked, it means either the battery is weak, bad or the connections are loose.

You are welcome.
Have the battery tested. It could be failing or it could be a problem with the charging system.

Have a great weekend.
