When attempting to accelerate the engine momentarily bogs down?

133,000 MILES • 5.7L • V8 • 4WD • AUTOMATIC

While running between 30 to 55 and trying to accelerate the engine momentarily bogs down. When it catches up the transmission downshifts and it sounds like I have an old school four-barrel carburetor with no breather. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you have low fuel pressure, but to be sure let's use this guide and you can rent a fuel pump pressure gauge from the auto parts store:

Fuel Pressure 58 psi +/- 2 PSI.

Here is how to change the fuel pump out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know how it goes.
