I would like to unplug my ac compressor as it it defective. I would like to use the heater without the ac compressor turning on. Is it possible?

Absolutely. You can also unplug the AC compressor relay to do the same thing. Be aware what you will lose is the compressor is supposed to run in defrost mode too. That is to cool the air to condense out the humidity before that air is heated and blown onto the cold windshield. You already are missing that feature if the compressor is not working.
