A/C not blowing cold air. Here is what I have done:

1) hooked up an A/C Pro recharge can, and it gave me a red reading to consult a technician.
2) Checked the fuse which was good - on this model there is not accessible relay.
3) Checked the power plug at the A/C compressor with a test light - light turned on.
4) Clutch is not engaging at all.
5) Cooling fans are running.
6) Hooked up a manifold gauge and here is what doesn't make sense to me. The low pressure reading was 100+ and the high pressure reading for over 350.

So right now, I'm thinking there is either a blockage and replacing my compressor, condenser and receiver dryer will help. I'm going to bring it to the mechanic to evacuate the system and then replace those things. But I want to know what that pressure means and if I'm doing everything I can or should I look elsewhere.

Thank you

For the low pressure to be that high, the system must be overcharged.

Did this happen all at once? What was the outside temp? Also, if you turn everything off and allow it to sit for a few hours, what are the pressure readings? If the compressor wasn't engaging, it should remain the same. So, check that and let me know. Note that the high-pressure switch is what is likely to prevent it from engaging the compressor.

One other thing. Was anything done to it recently?

If I had the vehicle, the first thing I would do is evacuate the system and properly recharge. I have a feeling that will take care of the problem. Take a look at this link:

Let me know.

Hey Joe, thank you for the quick reply. So, I live in south Florida and one day about a week ago it was cold. I put in the heater, and it blew nicely, then the next day I turned on the A/C and nothing by warm air came out. It wasn’t the heat from when the heater was on, but it was about 78-80 degrees outside.
I have never added refrigerant to my system nor had any issues prior to this.

Also, at the risk of sounding like a fool, could I be using the bifold gauge in the wrong way? Every video I watched showed a gauge at 0 prior to using it. After I used it, the pressure remained inside the gauge and when I unscrewed the yellow middle one to see if that would release the pressure it shot out fluid. So needless to say, I haven’t used it again since and that reading is still on my gauge.

So also in your opinion, evacuating and recharging might just fix the issue altogether, so I’ll try that first. Thanks again.

Hi,

The gauges should only attach one way, so I don't think that is the issue. Also, the fluid that came out is called PAG oil. It is used in the A/C system to keep everything lubricated. Did a lot come out?

For the pressure to be that high, it must be overcharged. Take a look at this link. If you page down through it, you will see what pressures can be expected based on outside temps. Keep in mind, the pressure readings are with the engine and compressor running. When everything is off, the high and low pressures will equalize. The directions, in general, explain how to evacuate and recharge the system.

Here is a video showing how to perform the procedure:

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,
