The car in question A/C went out suddenly some time ago. Being here in Texas it's been in the one hundred degree temperatures, I'm attempting to remedy this again.

Yesterday, after finding out which fuses to check, I realized the A/C clutch 10 amp fuse was blown. I replaced it, hopped into the vehicle and fired it up. It was blowing cold! I shut it off and ran inside to brag to the wife on how I had finally fixed the A/C. She came out, started it, and to our disappointment blew nothing but hot air. I checked the fuse and it had blown. I replaced it but this time and the following 3 or 4 times after, I couldn't get the cold air to come back not even for a minute, the fuse simply blew each time. Any help would be more than appreciated.

Hi,

I need you to perform a couple of tests. First, replace the fuse. Make sure the A/C is turned off and then turn the key on. Does the fuse blow?

If it doesn't, I need you to remove the A/C clutch relay and replace the fuse again. Turn the key on and the A/C on (it won't work) but I want to know if the fuse blows.

If it doesn't, I need you to disconnect the brown wire with a green tracer at the A/C compressor. Install a new fuse and try the same procedure. If the fuse doesn't blow, we have narrowed down the short to the A/C clutch. Inspect the connector for damage, corrosion, and damage to the wiring.

I attached the entire wiring schematic below for the A/C system. I highlighted the wiring from the fuse you replaced (confirm that for me) to the relay and to the clutch.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Note: I had to cut each pic in half to make them readable. However, I did overlap them so you can follow from one to the next.
