Our brakes are soft or spongy and we were told the ABS was bad. They want $2,500.00 to fix it. Is this common for this to be wrong for 2008 with only 20,000 miles?

Good afternoon my name is Roy and I will assist

No, it is not but the age, ten years, and the condition of the brake fluid make had been the cause of this issue. Brake fluid sitting over time will separate and if it did would cause internal issues with the ABS system.

We used new brake fluid and bleed the brakes five or six times.

Sorry, was traveling today.

You bled the system now with the fluid but the damage may have already been done with the old fluid. There is no flush or additive to flush the system.

Keep bleeding it and see if the pedal returns. If it does not come back, then you will most likely need to replace the unit as diagnosed.
