Why are both of my front brake calipers not working?

Both of the front brake calipers are not instantly responding. At times the brakes stay in the braking position then slowly release.

Check the master cylinder, check the proportioning valve.

The MC is on the driver's side under the hood on the firewall. The proportioning valve is below it.
