Codes C0001-01-2B, C0020-71-68, C0082-48-2B and C1109-64-60, ABS, Brake and TSC lights on?

One day I turned on the car and saw that the ABS, TSC, and Brake lights were on. We checked the brake fluid, and it looked a tiny bit low, so we added some DOT 3. The brake and TSC lights went off. The ABS light remained on. The next day, I read about a thing on YouTube to reset the ABS by turning the car to "on" (not the engine) and pumping the gas pedal three times. The ABS light remained on. I called the garage and arranged to go in for a yearly inspection and a look at the ABS. On my way over, the ABS light went off. Car passed inspection 100%. No lights on the way home. The next day, all three lights came on. Car is throwing codes: C0001-01-2B, C0020-71-68, C0082-48-2B, and C1109-64-60. Ultimately, they told me I would need a new ABS module, to start. Cost: $1,300. Does this seem like a reasonable dx and price? Thanks.

Hi,

Pressing the throttle three times is how the oil change reset was done on older GM vehicles.

As far as the module is concerned, have any diagnostics been performed? I ask because the codes are for different things related to the ABS. Could it be the module, yes it could. However, I just like to confirm before replacing expensive parts.

Additionally, I found a technical service bulletin that may be relevant in this case. Take a minute and read through the attached pics below. Let me know if that helps.

Hi, thank you so much for your help. They did charge me $120.00 for a diagnostic, and their diagnosis was that I need a new ABS module. Not sure how they reached that conclusion. The worrying part, besides the price of the replacement, is that they said they were going to "start" with that, implying either that they aren't sure that is the problem, or that more codes might come up after they do that. I did research before I took my car in to them, and I actually mentioned that service bulletin, but the way they are set up, you don't speak to the actual mechanic, just the receptionist. I do think that service bulletin might apply to my car, as the last numbers of my VIN are lower than the ones mentioned in the bulletin. I am thinking about having someone check the more basic things, like connections and fuses. Does that sound like a reasonable thing to do? I am also thinking of going to another garage for a second opinion. Thank you again for your help. I am spreading the word about your site, and I will update you on what happens next.

I think it would be a good idea to get a second opinion. That is a lot of money. And yes, I agree it sounds like there will be more.

Hey there. I have been driving my car with no problem while trying to save money for a possible ABS module repair. Recently however my power steering and tire pressure lights have been coming on. The tire pressure light is flashing. A couple of times, well this has been happening I lost my power steering. My tire pressure is fine. The abs, break, and traction control lights are also still on. Doesn't this all seem to indicate an electrical issue rather than an ABS module problem?

Hi,

In most cases, a flashing TPS light indicates an internal fault in the system and not a wheel speed sensor. If the ABS module loses a wheel speed signal, it will become inactive and turn the light on along with the traction control. So, I agree with you. It could be something different.

On the other hand, it certainly still could be the ABS module. I say that because the dynamic stability control could be the result of the module along with the other lights and codes. I doubt all would fail at the same time, so the one key component that could tie everything together is the module.

Take a look below at the dynamic stability control code you provided and the possible causes. One deals with the connector.
