A/C compressor oil capacity

I just took out the old A/C compressor and on the new one it say it's pre-charged with 3 ounces of oil but also says must add recommend amount. How much more do I need to add?

This is called oil balancing. Basically they pre load it with 3 ounces and then you need to fill the remaining based on how much you pour out of the old one. So if you pour out 3.5 ounces then you need to add another half ounce.
