I did the ignition key trick for the codes by the flashing check engine light the sequence of flash is as follows; 1211424255. Can anyone make sense of these? Is it 2 number codes like 12. 11. 42. 42. 55.

Good evening,

The 12 and 55 are not codes. 12 is no distributor reference which is normal for key on, engine off.

55 is end of sequence.

42 is for the ASD relay signal to the PCM.

11 is for the crank sensor signal.

WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition key ON and battery voltage greater than 10 volts.

SET CONDITION
No voltage sensed at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when the Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay is energized.

THEORY OF OPERATION
Whenever the PCM energizes the ASD relay, it checks the feedback circuit to ensure voltage is present at the ASD relay output.

- When the ASD relay is energized, the relay's contacts connect the fused B(+) circuit to the relay output circuit.

- The PCM is connected in parallel with the ASD relay output circuit, providing the PCM with a circuit to monitor the ASD relay output state.

If voltage is not present, a trouble code is set.

PROBABLE CAUSES
- ASD relay output circuit open
- Fused B(+) circuit open
- ASD relay
- Circuit in PCM

Haven't had a chance to mess with it but I didn't mention earlier the relay box upon ignition is clicking more than a tribe of Aborigines. Mostly the ASD relay.

Okay. So I changed the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor.. The excessive clicking in the relay has stopped but it is still just cranking no start. Checked for spark and there is none. So the other code was no signal from PCM to ASD code 42 I think it was. So do I need to just get a new PCM or what should I try next? Thank you for your help.

Can you get a code reader and check the codes again? The key off and on will not give all the information I need.

And there is still no spark. So I guess maybe replace the PCM?

When you crank the engine, does the tach move up a little? That will tell me if the crank sensor is sending a signal to the PCM.

If you have a scan tool, read live data and see if you see an RPM reading while cranking.

Yes, we are close to a PCM.
