I know that there is suggested service for this car at 7500 miles. Would it be okay if it waited until 8500 miles? Of course I would keep up to date with the oil changes, but otherwise how important is it that the 7500 mile service be done at that time?

1000 miles is not going to make much of a difference at all especially if it is mostly highway driving.

And would you say the same thing if a lot of it is local driving?

There is some highway driving but also quite a bit of local.

It is actually a six year old car, but with very low miles. I guess it is still okay.
