Leaking oil filters are unheard of, regardless of the brand. What IS too common is overlooking the old rubber o-ring that stuck to the engine, then the new gasket sits on top of it. That's called "double-gasketing". Every professional has done that at least once in their career. I've done it twice, so I must be a real professional! Usually you don't notice it until the old gasket blows out and all the oil dumps on the ground, but usually that happens before you get out of the parking lot.

If you have two filters leaking, it's much more likely you're not making them tight enough or there's a crack in the mounting surface or some other defect or debris. Do-it-yourselfers are told to put a light film of oil on the new gasket to help it slide into place. Many of us don't do that because since there's so little time between removing the old filter and putting the new one on, there's plenty of old oil still there that dribbled onto the mounting flange.
