The car sat for a couple of months, I replaced tires and brakes. I drove for five days minimum eighty miles each day.
On the fifth day, I drove forty miles to work, after work, the car started fine. Driving home, I stopped and got fuel; no issues starting after refueling, once on highway driving approximately 75-80 MPH the RPMs seemed all over the place, seemed like car was having issues shifting, when in low RPMs it sounded extremely rough, but at high RPMs sounded off still but almost okay. Pulled off highway and car stalled. I tried to start but would sputter and stall, tried to start approximately three more times and again it would sputter and stall. Then eventually it would not start. I could still hear the engine turning over and trying to start but wouldn't start.

Checked codes with OBD2 and found
DTC - P0300, P0303, P0304

The car listed above is an SE model with a 1.6L Turbo.

Hi,

The codes indicate cylinder misfires. What we need to do at this point is see if there is spark and fuel to the engine. The easiest thing to do is see if it starts for a few seconds using starting fluid. If it does, then we know its fuel related. If it doesn't change, then we need to see if there is spark to the plugs. Here is a link that explains how that is done.

Do these two things first and let me know the results. Also, if possible, record it cranking, so I can hear what it sounds like. That may be very helpful.

Take care and I'll watch for your reply.

Thanks for the response Joe!
So, I tried the quick start and still would not start.
I checked the spark plugs and the gap on spark plug for cylinder 4(drivers' side) appeared larger than it should be. (Picture below).
Changed spark plugs and inadvertently swapped ignition coils 1 and 3 which caused DTC codes p0301 P0304 and P0304. Bought 2 new ignition coils and replaced cylinder 1 and 4 ignition coils and now have P0301, P0303, P0300, P0304.

Hi,

Do I understand correctly? Are the new coils causing new misfire codes? Also, if it wouldn't start with starting fluid, it sounds like there is no spark to the plugs. Were you able to perform the test I listed above?

Let me know.
