When my car's engine is cold it will not go into third gear. Also, will show transmission limited function. After that when I switch off engine and restate again it works normal.

Hello,

This sound like you have a transmission speed sensor for the input shaft is going bad but to be sure lets run the codes.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Here is the location of the sensor.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers

I had the exact problem with my car and the turbine speed sensor fixed it. Be careful about the wiring connector though they can be brittle.

Please Help
I have a 2010 ford galaxy 2.0 EcoBoost titanium.
I was driving yesterday and a warning light came on saying Transmission limited function. I pulled over and turned car off and looked on internet and it said turn car off then on so I did and the warning light never came back on. I have drove it today it seemed ok. But as the warning light came on yesterday it doesn't come on for nothing so I need it checked. When I drive car and put it in reverse the car shudders abit which feels like I'm pushing and releasing brake. Also when I'm sitting at traffic light with foot on brake, when I pull off it hesitates abit before moving.

Hi, I took car to a Ford automatic gearbox specialist and it came up with no faults on the gearbox or the car. But today I had the transmission limited function warning light come on. I am completely confused as scan revealed no faults so why did the transmission limited function light come on? Also sometimes the gears crunch when I first start driving it. Please help

It sounds like the input shaft speed sensor is out. To be sure the first thing we need to do is to gather the codes. here is a guide to help us get started on fixing the problem:

Please run down this guide and report back.
