Hi,

If you get one click from the starter, either the starter has failed, you have a weak connection to the battery, or the engine is locked.

Do me a favor. At the starter motor, there will be a smaller gauge purple wire. That is the trigger wire. It only gets power when the key is in the start position.

Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for power at that wire.

I attached the starter circuit wiring schematic for the trigger wire below so that you have a reference.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks for replying. I noticed that I could hear the low humming sound from the fuel pump during start up also.

Hi,

That makes sense. By chance, were you able to check the starter for power? If you are only getting a click, we need to identify that issue first.

Let me know.

I lost the keys to add onto my problem. It clicks then silent. I'll turn the key over and it will continue to click (like a series of sputtering clicks) on it's on trying to start.

Hi,

It sounds like you have the same luck I have. LOL A rapid clicking usually indicates a weak battery or a poor connection. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight as well as the battery is fully charged. You may want to remove it and have it load tested at a parts store. Most will do it free of charge.

Also, if you could record the clicking and upload it for me to hear, that will help.

Let me know.
