I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado, V-8, and the "Check Engine" light came on a few days ago. The OBD-II test came out with a "P0442" reading. I had not recently put gas in the truck, but checked the gas cap anyway and it appeared to be fine. I purchased a new gas cap ($12), filled the tank and the light still did not turn off. I have driven it several times since then with no success of the light turning off. Do I need to have the light reset, or what is my next step in finding the problem?

I don't have a personal scan tool. Can a place like Auto Zone clear the scan for free or will it cost to have the code cleared at a mechanic shop? I know some vehicles can clear codes by turning the ignition key to the "on" position several times. Can I do this with my truck?
