I just noticed that this site was for professional mechanics. I am not a professional mechanic, but my dad is. The reason I am on this site now is because all off his diagnostic equipment was damaged in hurricane ike and so was my newer car. My dad has been keeping my car running great, that is why I still have the car. People are amazed at the great ride from a 1992 car.

No tools needed, just hook up the sti to the single wire and count the flashes in the car when you turn the key on.

I have a 1990 lincoln town car signature series with a 5.0 ltr 302 v8 motor the battery light came on and the anti lock light too. I replaced the abs relay switch and the anti lock light went out. Then I had the altinator checked by two different places both said it was good. Battery light was still on. I had the battery tested and it is good too and in fact it was 45 percent charged enough power to start the car and go. So what is the problem and why wont the light go out. Light has been on for 3 days and the car hasnt died yet so wtf please help this is driving me insane. How do I reset it if thats the problem

When the light stays on, it means it is not reconditioning the battery-take it in and have the alternator load tested again-something is wrong-could also be the wiring behind the alternator and to the ignition switch.

Try this put the voltmeter on the battery disable the ignition system, crank engine over for 10secs is t he voltmeter reading above 9.6volts

Recently I had to replace my battery because it was completely dead. Once it was replaced I tested the alternator because the charge system light was still beepin. I was told that the alternator is working fine. Now I have a new battery and a good alternator and it is still saying that I have to charge my sytem! I was also told that it the battery may be draining because of something that is still running while the car is off. I disconnected the negative for now.I read on this site that some one had a simila issue and it had something to do with a resistor. That is everything I know. Any help would be very appreciated.

Do you have an internal or external voltage regulator?

Could be a short circuit causing the battery to drain overnite-Do the battery drain test below

Well, unfortunately I have to let you know that the charge system light flashing, has nothing to do with your battery or alternator. That light is there to tell you to charge your A/C. I am sure once you properly charge your A/C and top off with freon the light will go away. Mine did.
