Had the transmission serviced and 25 miles later.

Had the transmission serviced and 25 miles later, speed sensors started acting up and speedometer was jumping erratically. Also had transmission fluid leaking and smoking. Shop towed it in, said the transmission was 1 1/2 quarts overfull. They drained some and never could determine where the fluid came out (dipstick area dry, flush port dry.) They say the transmission is workign fine now but the speedometer has now quit working completely. They say the two issues are not related, just a coincidence. Anything with the tranny being overfull or oil coming out that coudl have cuased the speedometer malfunction?

No, they are not related. It may not even be the trans causing the issue. You need a scan tool to see if the sensor is sending a signal to the pcm. If it is then it may be a cluster issue if not, then the sensor may have failed
