My brakes have started to lock my car from moving. I can smell the Pads scorching like the emergency brakes are up. It will not do it when you first crank the car but when you run it for 7 or 8 miles the brake pedal because stiff and the car slows and you can barely get up to 20 miles an hour My mechanic has replaced the brake master cylinder, the calibers, and flushed the brake lines but the problem is still there. Can you help?

This happens when the brake booster push rod is adjusted out too far which does no allow the brake master to return fully holding the brakes on. To confirm the issue loosen the brake master mounting bolts 3 turns to see if the car starts to roll again, if so remove the master and adjust the booster push rod inward. Also a brake flex hose can come apart internally causing a short of check valve in the system but this is usually isolated to one brake either front or rear.

Thanks for the reply on my brake problem. I had 2 different mechanics to work on my Kia including my regular mechanic. This is what finally happened. It was the brake booster gone bad. I have had no problem with the brakes since he replaced it. I had the calipers, the master cylinder replayed for nothing and it turned out to be a bad booster.
