Engine light came on car went In to limp mode then down shifted to second, replaced input and output speed sensors, engine light went off and drove fine for three days, then same issue started again, thought maybe sensors were faulty so replaced them again and changed transmission fluid and new trans filter, engine light went off and drive fine for a few miles then same issue started again, pt will be fine at times for several miles then the park, reverse, neutral and drive lights in dash will start flashing, this is the heads up that it is going to go in limp mode then down shift into second, you can turn the car off at times wait a few minutes start the car and it will drive fine for awhile. I can also tell when I start the pt that it is going to shift fine for when I shift from park to drive it shifts smoothly, I know it is going to act up and be stuck in second when I start the pt and shift from park to drive for it shifts with a little jerk. I had the timing belt, tensioner kit, water pump and a value done in February, I spent all my savings having this repair work done. TIPM was replaced two years ago, at this point I can not take it to a repair shop due to it has drained my funds, need expert advice on this issue hoping it is something I can replace myself like I did the sensors. I do not think it is the transmission it's self for it shifts fine in all gears As I stated earlier before the P R N D lights start flashing goes into limp mode then stick in second. Thank You R.M.R.

First thing you have todo is scan for codes and get correct codes. Itmay begoing into limp mode due to a faulty or worn clutch seals, clutch plates or avalve body problem as well as a wiring problem. With the mileage on it it could very well be the clutch seal/plate problem. Have a trans guy look at this. Also when you changed trans fluid was it brown/black or red, the first two indicate a hard trans problem. Especially black.

Red, there was no metal flakes or granular in the pan either, very slight worn smell to the transmission, very slight. Like I said I am trouble shooting this for after all the other work of two thousand dollars I am drained. What about the trans solenoid?

Don't do the shotgun approach to fixing cars, especially nowadays. Get it scanned for codes any of the major auto parts do this for free then come back with a code that helps immensely. Plus you can find out what the problem is or at least we can help you without that you are in the dark

This post was from 6 years ago so it is unlikely they will respond. Why don't you start a new post with your specific vehicle and the issues you are experiencing and we can trouble shoot your vehicle. Especially because you may have the same symptom but there are numerous causes that can happen to get the same symptoms.

Also, if you are able to get the codes from the computer as was requested for the other vehicle that will start us down the right path. If you don't have a scanner, most parts stores will do it free of charge. Thanks
