I have an '01 Limited edition with a 5sp manual and 100,000 miles. I was driving home last night when the wheels locked up, and a loud crashing/banging could be heard and felt from the engine compartment. The cabin then filled up with what smelled like and I'm assuming was clutch smoke. The engine kept running fine, however, even with the clutch pedal all the way out and the engine running, the gear lever could be placed in any gear without anything happening. Anyone have an idea what failed here because I'm stumped!
