My 2006 Chev. Impala LTZ with a 3.9 engine has a hard check engine light. My OBD2 reader repeatedly shows ERROR. My dash info. Message sometimes displays Tighten Gas Cap. The gas cap has been replaced. Please help, thanks, Bob

I'm not completely sure what you mean. My code reader is a Actron, it tells me what the codes are with brief explanation of its meaning. Thanks, Bob

So when you plug the code reader in it turns on by itself?It just wont talk to the car?

It does turn on when I plug it in. It normally gives a code with brief explanation. In case it repeatedly list error. With the dash info. About the gas cap I wonder if I have fuel vent leak? Thanks, Bob

If its saying to check the gas cap then there is some kind of evap leak somewhere. Just need a code to start with?

It at all depends on the code numbers you have. Have seen evap canister purge solenoids stick open causing codes.

I will check for you the keyless entry is controled by the body control module. There usually by the glove box.

The ecm is located inside the air cleaner assembly. The bcm is left side of the steering column.

The keyless entry is in the remote control door lock reciver. Which is located on the back shelf
