Power steering pump replacement

I just replaced power steering pump on my 2006 impala. It is still making the whining noise and foaming in reservoir. I jacked up the car and moved steering wheel side to side hoping to rid air out of the system. After considerable amount of time it has not changed anything and I am afraid of damaging the new pump, any suggestions? P.S. It is making the same noise it was before replacing the pump.

It sounds like you have a defective pump that is pulling in air which makes the fluid have air in it and the noise will never go away until you redo the pump. May I suggest an AC Delco pump.

Here is a guide to show you what you are in for when doing the job.

and you should flush the system

Here are some diagrams that shows how it will be on your car. (below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
